Flashtype

A markdown editor with
Claude & Codex built in

My Postman meetup talk: open a Claude-generated markdown file without Xcode, edit it with Claude Code right next to the document, and review every change as a diff. Free and open source.

What happens in the demo

A markdown file Claude made, opened like a normal app, edited by Claude Code beside it — and every change reviewed before it lands.

1

1. Open it — no Xcode needed

Claude and Codex spit out markdown files. Double-click one on a Mac and it wants to install Xcode (10 GB). FlashType just opens it like a normal app.

2

2. Claude Code, right beside your doc

Run Claude Code or Codex next to your draft. Ask for a change — like adding a stop to a trip plan — and it edits the real file, not a copy in a chat window.

3

3. Review it as a diff

Every edit shows up as an inline diff. Accept the good ones, reject the rest. You see exactly what the AI changed before it lands.

Where FlashType is headed

FlashType started as a demo for Lix: bringing version control — accept, reject, and history — to everyone who works with AI-generated files, not just engineers.

Beyond markdown

Not just markdown files

The same 'how do I open this?' problem hits CSV, JSON, and LaTeX too. FlashType is built to open and diff those next.

No terminal

The terminal is on its way out

Right now FlashType shows the native Claude Code terminal. Soon, non-technical users won't need a terminal at all.

Redlines for everyone

Diffs your whole team gets

Developers call them diffs; lawyers call them redlines. FlashType makes AI changes reviewable for people who've never opened VS Code.

Version control beyond code

FlashType is a demo of Lix — version control for any file — bringing accept, reject, and history to knowledge work.

Review-first beats paste-first

Pasting into a chat tab gives you text with no diff and no history. FlashType puts the agents where your files already live — and nothing lands until you approve it.
